Elk Network‘National Park’ Open to the Public in Washington

It covers a little more than 1,400 acres but just about has it all—springs, rugged terrain, forests, waterfalls, a lake, elk, deer and other wildlife.

“It’s like a national park within 1,400 acres,” Bill Richardson, Oregon-Washington senior lands program manager for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, told the Columbian. “It’s not just recreational access, it’s hunting access, it’s fishing access. Merrill Lake is one of the premier fly-fishing lakes in the state.”

RMEF worked with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to acquire the pristine property and convey it to WDFW.
